What does volatility mean?

Volatility is a term used to describe the level of risk associated with a particular gaming machine, and is typically classified as low, medium, or high. It should be noted that volatility is distinct from RTP, which represents the percentage of wagered money that players can anticipate receiving back over time.

While the average RTP for a slot machine typically falls within the range of 94-96%, this figure is not directly related to the machine’s volatility. Rather, volatility speaks to the level of risk and potential reward associated with a given game, taking into account factors such as the frequency and size of payouts.
